33 "God"

I’m still looking for God. Sometimes I’ll catch a glimpse of him or her making a run for it far off in the distance but we have yet to have a conversation. I’m thankful though. For him or her. I think he might be a she.

I’m thankful for her because she made sure my grandmother left me one last voice mail before she made her French exit. I’m thankful for her because she made sure my parents found their way back to one another after they had gotten lost so long ago. I’m thankful for her because she made sure I was okay, regardless of all those nasty things that happened to me as a child, so many times in that bathroom with the ugly wall paper. I’m thankful for her because she has always made sure I stumble upon the words when my writer’s block kicks in and a deadline is due.

If I ever meet God, I’ll be sure to buy her a drink. I wonder if she drinks her wine red or white.

P.S. One day these one minute writings will be a big book called “One Minute, Please.” Can I let you know when that day comes? You can say yes, here.
